It has been quite some time since anyone posted anything here, and I am beginning to wonder if I am too honest. Is nobody sending a video of themselves because of fear that I will tear a strip off their technique? I am interested to know this really - it is a serious question! AFF

I was shown this site in reference to Scriabin's Op. 28 Fantasy and a discussion of Dacic's spectacular recording. I have a video that was made impromptu, without warming up, of a piece that I'm performing in a recital in a bit over two months. I'd like some evaluation and assessment of my technique: IE, where d...

Greetings Alan... and all... I just found your web site after google searching on the words 'piano technique avoiding injury'... Your work looks fascinating and I have a strong feeling that I may be buying your DVD as I believe it might be exactly what I am seeking! I would like to share my story - as it is un...

Hi, I just ordered the DVD and hoping that I would be able to play without tiring and hurting the arms(tendons) so much. Whenever I play fast pieces like Chopin Op.10 Nr. 4 or Fantasie Impromptu.. The tendon gets hurt when I practice fast.. I even try to think and relax completely but that doesn't go too well. But W...

Anyway, I could say a thing or two about this performance, but I'll save it for after everyone is done picking it apart

Hi, I'm afraid the image quality isn't too brilliant here (and neither is the sound), but I'd love to hear your thoughts on how this looks, if you have time. I can still see a number of major lapses (most notably on the final chord) where an excess of 'following through' is hugely weakening the structure, but I can...

Hello. I found this website this week while searching for piano technique and injury. The DVD really looks interesting, . I would ask a friend from USA to order it for me because I have had bad experiences buying with shipping to Mexico. Alright, I am 17 years old, started taking classical piano lessons and playing...

I decided to pick up piano playing after quitting a few years ago to study for college. I've been trying to learn Chopin's Fantasie Impromptu, and here's a video of the first section. Let me know what you think! I'll read the suggestions and upload a new video a few weeks later (hopefully with a better camera that...

OK! Finally I'm back to HK and can touch the real piano and take some videos to put up here. Before I post myself, here's my sister playing Bach. She started playing at an early age. I could see her hand evolving in recent years. She's lazy on reading, so the evolution is largely due to natural adaption to difficult pi...

I attended Alan's recent workshop to get some advice of a problem I had playing properly with two hands. Basically, I would seize and stop breathing. I've been learning the piano for a bit over two years so I'm pretty well a raw beginner. So Alan watched me for about 10 seconds and said: "Stop right there...

Hi All I've entered the Kemble Chopin E-Competition in the UK. I wanted to post this up as I've been posting on here and had a few chats with people on here. This competition is a bit of a marketing thing in that this round is a people's vote. The 10 most voted goes onto the judges round where the winners will be...

Here is an excerpt from the third movement of Petrouchka from a recital I played in April. Just curious to hear what some people might have to say. I think you get a better impression when you hear it from beginning to end...I am going to get the DVD edited so that I can upload the pieces in their entirety. I th...

Just tried playing this through yesterday. While it's a hell of a long way from Horowitz (to put it mildly) I was actually quite pleasantly surprised by the overall result. Last time I tried playing it through the bits that didn't feel good were especially audible and many things that seemed okay at the time sou...
