Liszt Recital From October

Hello, It's been a while! I wanted to post the video of a recital I played in Manhattan recently... it's an all Liszt program, featuring works from the Italian Years of Pilgrimage and finishing with the infamous Don Juan Fantasy . I think the video is better than the Stravinsky I put up back in the summer months... better closeups etc. I have a couple of things in mind I wanted to point out, but would be curious to hear other's unbiased feedback, before mentioning what I noticed. The Don Juan is a fairly new piece, by the way. Here is the link: Thanks and hope you enjoy the music, -Eric

Bravo Eric, I think we should consider shifting this post over to the master pianist video evaluation group, this is a really impressive concert program extremely well-performed. On the plus side, a great sense of musical excitement, involvement and inspiration - there is good energy and tons of it. You've really prepared well and are totally at home with this technically and musically demanding material. I sense a certain busy-ness in your physical involvement. Your really abundant positive energy has a certain slight tendency to agitato. As these interpretations mature, and your technical approach to them, you'll discover an even deeper musical expression. I don't want to demean what you're doing in any way, I just do see a path for further development. With more economical physical movements the intensity of musical focus can increase. It's difficult to find that economy of movement without you feeling you're hamstringing yourself - but it's possible. Onward and upward, forever upward! AFF
