This Study Group looks at:

  • bringing more energy to a Grieg Lyric Piece by enlivening the fingers and involving the whole body
  • using the Termite Temerity technique to get absolute control over accompaniment repeated notes
  • layering the learning in a Satie Gnossienne
  • improving rhythm and getting the thumb up to speed in a scale in a Mel Bonis Eclogue
  • Balancing the elbow in an exactly neutral position to achieve the delicate rhythmic buoyancy of a Schubert impromptu.
  • Taking the verticality out of the phrasing in Schumann's "The Poet Speaks." It's a chorale, not a series of chords.
  • discovering a specific Pianimals exercise for for each articulation in another Schumann piece, Volksliedchen (Little Folk Song), Op. 68, No. 9
