HELLO, Alan,i saw your lecture in which you explained that when we move our arm forword and backward it allowes the fingers to move faster than if we dont move the arm and just move our fingers. Should I play with the moving arm all the time-when I play something that includes the black and white keys, and if I play something which involves only the white keys? for example-should I move my arm even when I play a simple C scale? Thanks Hadar

This simple question requires an answer whose complexity is far beyond the scope of this forum. In a nutshell, yes and no. Of course, don't slide in and out of the black keys in a C major scale, that would be senseless. But some sort of subtle horizontal or lateral movement of the arm can substitute for the in out movements I showed in midair in my DVD, and lend a sense of phrase direction and undulating shape to the scale, which risks otherwise becoming a mechanical barrage of notes. There are many ways of doing this, and you have to experiment.
