Trils With 4th And 5th

How do you play fast trills with 4th and 5th fingers especially when it's accompanied by a chord or a second voice with the thumb at the same time? Also, how do you play tremolos of alternating chord and 5th finger (example: Grieg piano concerto)? I seem to have trouble with these. Help me please. These weren't mentioned in the DVD. Abbie

Yeah, I couldn't cover everything in the DVD. I couldn't even cover everything in the 450-page book. And now with Honing the Pianistic Self Image nearing completion, I have bad news: I didn't cover everything in that one either!! The short answer to your question is SKELETALITY. When you find the way to stand up well in your thumb-forefinger assembly, the other three fingers generally start behaving a whole lot better. When you play 4 & 5, still consider your second and thumb to be the most important, the ones that are working the hardest. You'll be surprised at what you can achieve with this simple trick of mind... The point of my snarky first paragraph: the whole idea is to figure out what skeletality is and then apply it to other situations. I'll never be able to cover them all - you're going to have to learn to think! AFF
