Tricep Contraction

Hi Saw the video where you mentioned that the tricep contracts playing scales. Why does the tricep contract when the finger hits the keys and not when i wiggle the fingers in air where there is no collision of the fingers and the key surface?

It is a stabilizing contraction. Remember, a stabilizing contraction is not necessarily an immobilizing contraction. AFF
