First Time Pain From Piano

Ok I have been trained pretty well in technique and approach to piano and never had really any problems with pain ever. But now I am in my freshman year of conservatory and I have (for reasons that are personal) experienced massive amounts of stress and anxiety and I didnt realize that I was playing with my right hand in a claw like way with my arm tensed. I went back to my old teacher and she adressed my technical problems and i am currently adressing it but I still feel constant tension in my forearm and wrist area even off of the piano. I went to a doctor and she says there seems to be no inflamation or anything. Any suggestions? Its not very painful but I am always aware of my arm and hand now.

Get more skeletal! If you don't know what that means, try to figure it out! I hope your teacher has been showing you the potency of the hand arch to help you out. When the hand works well, when the palm of the hand feels full and pumped, allowing the fingers to move effectively (instead of this "relax, relax" which ends up causing huge amounts of tension), the stress on the forearm is relieved. Good luck, let us know how you get on! AFF
