MOVEMENT

HELLO, is it correct to teach student to move the wrist up and down,like in Chopin first Scherzo,right at the beginning after the first two chords,telling the student to start with a low wrist and towards the A flat note to take the wrist up? if so,to what purposes the wrist move up and down,is is because there are black keys involved or in order to produce a different sound? thanks a lot

Impossible to answer this question. Each student is individual, and you might have to tell one pianist something diametrically opposed to what you'd tell another, or what you might do yourself, because of their unique physical organization. Sorry! AFF
