Here is another great British pianist. He handles the awkward octave legato passages with real finesse. His arch is really impressive. Also he characterizes the fate motif and shapes the descent into the abyss at 1:50 wonderfully (among other things). It is quite beautiful just to watch. Sometimes he drops his arm into the keys which maybe limits his sound a little bit but on the whole I think he is a tremendous pianist and musician. Even during the most turbulent moments in the music he stays lucid and in control of the overall design.

I must say I don't like his personality that much, but yes an extremely fine, capable pianist. I would agree with all your observations. AFF
