Kemal Gekic's Technique

I'm very interested in the way Kemal Gekic uses his hands. I believe he thought about it a lot and experiments with different ways of using his hands. From about 0:33, his wrist is unusually low, but the attack feels very efficient. At times (most prominently 0:42-0:47) he straightened his index finger so much, looking as if he's tensing, but yet it looks (and sounds) more like a loaded spring..... I myself, before but more so after reading Alan's book, try the low wrist finger striking. The sound is amazing. The fingers are very active and free. The wrist feels loose and transfering the support from the arm to the fingers, yet without stiffening....The only problem I've had with that position is that you can never use it for too long: the thumb got stuck, not being able to "pass under". But passing under, or any running passage involving sideway movement of hands ( and thus the thumb) is precisely what I'm weak in. So I gave up using it too much, except when my hand can stay for a while in a fixed position. His performance of La Campanella is another example of his magic I'm interested in analysing (perhaps using slow motion) how he plays something more traditional, like a fast scales or thirds in one hand, e.g..... Any chance of doing that??

I don't know it would be great -is it possible to download youtubefiles and than speed them down? And if so how-anybody out there? It looks to me that KG uses so many different touches simultaneosly that a slowmotion wouldn't reveal that much secrets. it's like a mix of all "schools" there are. The sound is breathtaking I really hope I can hear him live sometime won't miss an occation which I did with Horowitz. Eric
