Thanks for your question. 1) As I said in the printed insert on the DVD, you have to DO the exercises you see on the screen! If you just sit and watch, you may acquire intellectual understanding but the information won't go it. 2) Each chapter title on the DVD (both in the printed insert Table of Contents and on the DVD navigation menu itself) has a number in parentheses beside it - this is the corresponding chapter from the book. Granted, there are several chapters near the beginning with no reference number, these are actually from my second book which has yet to be published. But for the ones with reference numbers, the corresponding book chapter offers a more detailed explanation than was possible within the time constraints of a DVD. This is how DVD and book can work together. 3) I don't actually supply the musical notes to the exercises - when I say 'exercises' I don't mean 'etude-like compositions a la Hanon or Czerny.' I mean a way of practicing, of relating to the keyboard to develop your hand. I hope this clears things up! AFF

The book is all over the Internet, but probably the best deal is at my publisher's website. Go to and search for The Craft of Piano Playing (or Alan Fraser for that matter) and they will give you a 15% discount of their list retail price, which is already lower than the price you find on Amazon or most anywhere else. Or you can wait until the 2nd Edition comes out early next year and buy it from our website - we will be offering copies, with special discounted prices for combination purchases - DVD and book together, or book and Study Guide together, or all three. Stay tuned for further info! AFF

Stay tuned for further info! AFF Okay, I registered on this forum just to ask this question: Any new info about the release time of this 2nd edition? I was going to buy the DVD or the book, but I'm glad I checked out these forums first. Now it seems that my smartest option is to hold out and wait for the 2nd edition, no? I'm located in Europe so the prices of these products were a little higher than I expected (compared to the dollar price), but I'm sure you guys will offer the book+DVD bundle with a very attractive discount

Welcome to our Forum! I am sorry that I don't have any really great news about the 2nd Edition release date. At the moment it is getting later rather than sooner, because we are running into big problems with the typesetting. I won't go into the details, but I think realistically you will have to wait another couple of months at least. SORRY! However, we CAN get you started with the DVD and still let you benefit from the eventual combined purchase discount. When you buy the DVD at our online store, there's a survey form you fill out afterward. In the "comments" box, simply note that you would like the 2nd Edition Book at the special combined purchase price, and we promise to sell you the book at that discounted rate as soon as a release date materializes. Howzat! All the best, AFF

Thy the box in the right column, if the left one looks a bit messy. We are still on that page and its not entirely optimize for all the browsers. Jovan
