Hi, I ordered the book. And now I have watched the DVD demo and I am interested in the DVD too. I wonder what are the advantages to have both (the disadvantage I know being paying more :^)? Thanks! Mike

Hi Mike, I know that Alan gave his best to do this dvd.I also know that he worked so hard to bring it to life.I am going to quote text on the back side of dvd: "Since it's publication in book form in 2003, THE CRAFT OF PIANO PLAYING has won kudos from pianists on every continet. This DVD features exercises from the original book plus several new ones, complementing the book's in-depth investigations with an immediate, graphic, and tangible experience of Alan Fraser's teaching. The exercises develop hand structure and function, replacing both tension and over-relaxation with effectiveactivation based on optimal skeletal alignment, and offering an ever more profound technical development for the assiduous student." How did you like the demo? About book,we are going to publish it next year probbably on our own,so if you could wait that long we could give you 20$ discount. See you Jovan

See you Jovan Thanks for the quick relpy! I did find the demo very interesting! I like the fact that Alan explains thing very clearly. I'll see whether I can cancel the book order (which seems to take forever for Amazon.com to ship). I will place myself on the dvd waiting list.

Mike Hi Mike, Alan Fraser here. That is a good question. The book provides more in depth explanation than a 90-minute DVD allows. The DVD on the other hand shows what the book is talking about more graphically. Thus they are designed to compliment each other and to be used together. Although we may well eventually be able to offer you both the book and the DVD, if you are in a rush you are best off still to order it directly from Scarecrow Press (); they are significantly cheaper and faster than amazon... Enjoy, and send me any further questions you have... aff

Hi, Alan: Thanks much for your explanation! They shipped out the book when I was going to cancel it; I have received the book a few days ago, but did not have had the time to read it yet. It is good to know there is the opportunity to ask questions to the author of the book! I appreciate it. One suggestion: it seems that the links to the recordings of Wuhan students no longer work. Could they be updated?

Hello Mike, those recordings of my Chinese students were stored at a server that is no longer working. We are working on getting them onto the new server but we are snowed under with the imminent DVD releas so please be patient! Best wishes, Alan Fraser
